MnROAD, located near Albertville, Minnesota (33 miles northwest of the Depot), is a cold region testing facility and laboratory operated by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) that includes both low-volume and freeway instrumented pavement sections.

As part of the 13 th ICCP meeting, ISCP would like to invite participants to tour the MnROAD to see the history, current projects, and capabilities of this unique full-scale testing facility.

Attendees of the field trip will be provided a reflective vest for use during tour.

Buses will leave the Depot hotel around 8am on Thursday, August 29 and return by 12:00pm to the Depot.

Minneapolis City Street Projects

Thursday, August 29, 2024 | 8-12 PM

Within the last five years, five major downtown Minneapolis streets have been completely reconstructed with concrete streets. Join engineers from the City of Minneapolis on a guided walking tour of downtown showcasing these streets and the challenges they had to overcome building them in this tough urban environment.

In addition to the concrete streets, tours will touch on urban stormwater infiltration, parking challenges, tactile pedestrian strips, intersection bump outs, traffic management, as well as viewing some of the iconic urban art that is incorporated into the public right of way.

Total walking tour route is approximately two miles at a leisurely pace with ample time for sightseeing. Participants will break into small groups with each group guided by a representative from the City of Minneapolis. Walking shoes and comfortable clothing are strongly recommended. There is a shuttle at the half-way point for those only wishing to walk half the tour.
